Closerie Vitis Arbor

Closerie Vitis Arbor is our new agroforestry project, which is the main focus of our attention. As its name suggests, this is the meeting point between winegrowing and fruit growing: on a property located in the village of Massugas, we have planted 4 hectares of vines with fruit trees among them.

Closerie Vitis Arbor is our new agroforestry project, which is the main focus of our attention. As its name suggests, this is the meeting point between winegrowing and fruit growing: on a property located in the village of Massugas, we have planted 4 hectares of vines with fruit trees among them.

We have decided to plant typical Bordeaux grape varieties (Merlot, Cabernet Franc and Sauvignon Blanc) but also to bring forgotten grape varieties up to date, by planting native grape varieties such as Castets and Carmenère (red grapes). The Sauvignon Blanc and Cabernet Franc plants used were obtained by mass selection, to preserve the great genetic diversity and identity of our vineyard, but also to guarantee an optimal quality for our production of grapes.

The vines are cultivated biodynamically, without the addition of chemicals or use of tractors – we use horse traction for the soil tillage.

The first wines of Closerie Vitis Arbor will be made from grapes of 2023 vintage, because to get the Biodynamic certification, we must respect a period of 3 years between planting and first harvest.

Major renovation work is underway, especially on the stone buildings adjoining the vines. This property will soon become an exclusive site for wine tourism: with several guest rooms, a tasting room and reception rooms. It will be able to accommodate guests and travelers from all over the world, overlooking the nature and the vines.
